Executive Director, Global Medical Affairs (GMA) – HIV Treatment
Responsibilities:
The Executive Director of GMA-HIV Treatment is a key position serving the Global Medical Affairs HIV treatment team supporting Gilead’s HIV treatment efforts reporting directly to the Vice President of HIV GMA. The ED GMA-HIV Treatment will support the execution of global medical affairs HIV treatment plans with a focus on scientific communication and education with the community of health care professionals and other key external stakeholders, ensuring the creation of high-quality scientific content outputs such as slide decks, medical presentations at conferences, advisory boards, and other programs.
The ED GMA-HIV Treatment will collaborate with colleagues throughout Gilead Sciences’ organization as well as with the external investigator community and other key external stakeholders. This is a Remote-based position.
The key functions of this role are to:
Delivers high-quality medical education presentations at several Gilead-sponsored medical education programs, supporting local medical affairs teams on scientific exchange.
Serves the HIV Treatment teams as a scientific expert, and collaborates on core strategies with a focus on science in the following areas: research, publication, education, scientific exchange, scientific content development, congress execution, etc.
Key partner in developing scientific data content and other medical affairs materials for a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
Key partner developing robust scientific communication plans.
Key scientific reviewer for study concepts, abstracts, and manuscripts including early data analysis.
Voice expertise at Gilead’s Phase IV Research Review Committees for HIV Investigator-Sponsored and Collaborative Research
Collaborates with HEOR and RWE teams on health economics and outcomes research projects.
Delivers high-quality training for Gilead’s HIV teams.
Collaborates with Clinical Research, PA, GA, Regulatory Affairs, and GCPS as needed.
Partners with Medical Information to ensure the creation and maintenance of high-quality professional communications for healthcare professionals in response to unsolicited requests for product information.
Key partner and collaborator to Gilead’s HIV Treatment Global Medical Affairs team
Works with HIV Medical Affairs colleagues worldwide to pull through scientific and healthcare policy communications and publications from research projects.
Provide inspirational leadership to the Global MA HIV team by creating an environment of collaboration, partnership, mutual respect, and shared goals with clear responsibilities.

Subject matter expertise in HIV Treatment

Serve as a scientific expert resource to Gilead, including Medical Affairs Medical Scientists supporting local execution through the appropriate scientific exchange channels.
Provide medical and scientific leadership at key scientific meetings, supporting planning and execution.
Maintain regular contact with community advocates, government, and policy officials, and KOLs to identify data gaps, track research and inform scientific exchange plans.
Ability to assess, understand, and communicate continuously expanding medical and scientific information.
Anticipate future industry trends and opportunities.
Excellent analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to identify and understand complex issues and problems.
Ability to identify novel timely solutions for issues encountered with clinical studies, treatment landscape, etc.

Knowledge & Experience
M.D., D.O., with extensive experience in HIV, virology, or clinical virology, 14+ years of experience in HIV treatment clinical practice, research, and medical education.
1-3 years of experience in Medical Affairs and/or Clinical Research including Phase II, III, and/or IV studies preferred.
Flexibility to travel extensively is required.
