Gilead’s Global Procurement Organization (GPO) is in the midst of an exciting transformation to redesign and improve Procurement service offerings, build stronger partnerships and create an improved user experience for our stakeholders and team members.  We are equally committed to re-establishing our approach and supplier engagement model re-establishing how suppliers can successfully do business with Gilead. 

Reporting to the Global Head of Procurement, the Procurement Process Excellence & Innovation Lead will play a pivotal role implementing, optimizing and streamlining process improvements and innovative solutions. You will be responsible for successfully collaborating across Procurement, stakeholder groups, business partners and Corporate Operations to effectively drive for results, create value creation for the enterprise and improve procurement performance. To enable this, you will be expected to achieve process innovation and optimization across our entire source to settle menu of services. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and stakeholders to drive procurement best practices and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and Lead Procurement’s Innovation Hub to harness full potential of process improvement opportunities with Suppliers, technology and the creativity in problem-solving within our own procurement team.

  • Acts as a subject matter expert and drives best practice in Procurement processes, coordinates efforts to continually improve those processes and manages the change associated with implementation of initiatives across the Procurement function and the wider business.

  • Design Procurement customer experience training materials and collaborate with a cross functional team to develop and launch training programs on procurement systems, policies and processes.

  • Serve as a cross-functional Liaison to represent Procurement when partnering with Corporate Operation teams to deliver complex, matrixed initiatives.

  • Acts as a subject matter expert and drives best practice in Procurement processes, coordinates efforts to continually improve those processes and manages the change associated with implementation of initiatives across the Procurement function and the wider business.

  • Collaborate with the Chief Procurement Officer and senior leadership team to continuously refine and simplify standard Procurement processes keeping the user experience as a leading principle.

  • Conducts high quality analysis of processes and systems using analytical and quantitative methods and tools to identify fact-based and focused improvement opportunities.

  • Continuously review the Sourcing, Purchasing and Contracting processes to identify gaps in efficiency and opportunities for improvements and partnering closely with senior business process owners to design and implement improvements.

  • Is responsible for interfacing, influencing and alignment with relevant stakeholders, i.e. Category Management, Sourcing, Master Data Management, Accounts Payable, Data Privacy or Legal.

  • Lead and collaborate to drive change management activities and project implementation in an effective manner to ensure continuous improvement strategy is successfully delivered in a matrix organization across multiple countries and operating entities (Gilead and Kite).

  • Collaborates across the Procurement Leadership team to co-create and deliver solutions to complex Procurement related business problems for areas of responsibility where analysis of situations requires an in-depth knowledge of organizational objectives and ways of working.

  • Optimize Business Process by documenting, streamlining and continually improving ways of working.

  • Will be responsible for performing audits, root cause analysis and design/implement sustainable corrective actions/ plans across a broad range of large scale, complex Procurement related initiatives.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and Fourteen Years’ Experience

OR

Masters' Degree and Twelve Years’ Experience

OR

PhD and Twelve Years’ Experience

Other Qualifications:

  • 15 years of professional experience in procurement leading strategy, process improvement and innovative solutions.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of procurement best practices and supplier management.

  • Extensive experience in the design and execution of Process Improvement (e.g., Six Sigma).

  • Excellent and proven communication and influencing skills to senior leaders and stakeholders at all levels.

  • Strong data analytical abilities to drive actionable insights and develop compelling messages.

  • Proven ability for effective and cross-functional team collaboration.

  • Passion for working in a fast paced and innovative business environment.

  • Proven ability to challenge current practices, seek alternative options and challenge convention.
