Job Description

We are seeking a GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices + Facilities Maintenance) Leader that will guide a group of varying mechanics that is responsible for the GMP and Non-GMP Equipment (Aseptic Fill Line, Isolator, Terminal Sterilizer, Small Flex Fill Line, Robots, Parts Washers, Autoclaves, Temperature Control Units, Boilers, WFI and Pure Steam Generators, Chillers, AHU’s etc) and facilities for a 400,000 square foot pharmaceutical manufacturing facility.

This position will guide the maintenance team in the overall maintenance of the facility but also maintain the GMP and Non-GMP production equipment. This person will be responsible for 3 different fill lines, 4 different formulation suites, spray dry suite and expansion activities as well as all facility related items with expansion of the campus in the future.

Job Duties:

  • Overseeing the management of three maintenance managers: A. Production Equipment B. Facilities C. GMP Facilities managers. Develop and execute maintenance programs.

  • Oversee new construction projects from a GMP, Production Equipment and Facilities maintenance perspective.

  • Ensure that the facilities, layout, and machinery used in the pharmaceutical facility run to their maximum efficiency and output.

  • Investigate equipment failures and work with the Root Cause Group to vet out issues.

  • Run the preventive maintenance programs, have good technical skills to resolve and trouble shoot issues.

  • Provide leadership skills to the Maintenance managers that report directly to this position.

  • Provide the necessary motivational skills and ability to roll out important initiatives.

  • Ability to implement cost-savings programs. Critical thinking background to address emergency situations.

  • The key objective is generating a good working environment among the entire maintenance group, develop the maintenance managers to grow in the organization, be able to allocate the mechanics to their specialty area and build a good foundation for the maintenance organization.

  • Be able to work with the engineering group to resolve complex issues with equipment. Understand the MRO and Maximo systems to aid in the success of the maintenance department.

  • Establish department goals as well as individual Manager’s goal that align with the site goals. Maintaining departments overall budget.

Gilead La Verne is a state-of-the-art pharmaceutical manufacturing facility that is highly regulated by FDA standards. Good understanding of these requirements is needed and needs to be a common theme within the department. Be able to negotiate contracts with outside vendors for contracted work. Implement workplace safety policies and standards. Be responsible for the agreed upon department KPI’s.

Qualification Requirements:

  • High School Diploma and 14+ years of of relevant experience in maintenance/equipment supervisory role in a highly regulated manufacturing environment OR Associates Degree with 12+ years of of relevant experience in maintenance/equipment supervisory role in a highly regulated manufacturing environment OR Bachelors Degree in engineering or equivalent with at least 10+ years of relevant experience in maintenance/equipment supervisory role in a highly regulated manufacturing environment (Pharmaceutical Industry Desirable).

  • Prior experience in a GMP Regulated facility in a supervisory role.

  • Deep understanding of GMP facility equipment knowledge and criticality of it as it relates to pharmaceutical environment.

  • Experience with Lyo’s, Aseptic Fill Lines, Parts Washers, Autoclaves, VHP units, Isolators, WFI and Pure Steam Stills, Chillers, AHU’s, Temperature control units, Boilers, Air Compressors, Spray Dry Units, Homogenizers and Environmental chambers.

The salary range for this position is: $150,535.00 - $194,810.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
